Eugene must’ve been feeling pretty good about himself considering how Louis had rejected him service in the royal army way back. He made the Sun King eat his words.

Oh, so that's why there's a town called Blenheim in Marlborough New Zealand, felt weirdly german.

Late 17th/Early 18th century wars are fascinating

Though nowhere near as well-known as the contributions of the Brits, Denmark actually provided the largest contingent of Allied troops which fought at the battle of Blenheim despite not being an official belligerent in the War of the Spanish Succession. Around 10-11,000 Danes were present compared to 9-10,000 Brits, and more than half their numbers were cavalrymen. They lost around 2,300 men in the fierce back-and-forth on Prince Eugene’s wing and the decisive charge which broke through Tallard’s lines. A Danish footsoldier even saved Eugene’s life by bayoneting a Bavarian who was about to take a shot at him!

This is literally one of the greatest and most interesting series you guys have done, such high quality, and obviously it is great to see the Duke of Marlborough, Louis XIV, Villars, Eugene of Savoy, etc. Almost nobody here discusses this war in depth (and it's only possible to watch this entire series with a membership).

The comment at 17:35 that the French/Bavarian position was 35km wide is wildly inaccurate! Their position was approximately 6-8oooyds across, or roughly 6km, I don’t know why you’d think an army of the period could ever cover such a frontage?
