People disrespect others to make themselves feel better. So a good response generally would be "Did that make you feel better?"

I just don't understand mothers who grow jealous of their daughters. It always seemed unnatural to me.

"You can't argue with jealousy". Profound statement.

When someone says you can’t take a joke, respond; when you learn how to tell a joke, it might get an appropriate response.

While working as a cashier, a customer said to me, you must have been beautiful when you were younger.
I replied “I still am”.

In 9th grade I came home with straight A's and my narcissistic father replied "you must have taken basket weaving classes". I was in shock, but I finally realized years later that he was jealous. I learned to set boundaries and stop allowing his negative comments to live in my mind. Thank you for this video. 🙏

I learned from Ann Landers (I am dating myself here ;) that when someone asks an inappropriate or mean spirited question simply ask in reply “why do you ask?” It works like a charm

My favourite response to being interrupted is to stop talking and quietly stare at them.
Then when they’re finished I begin again “as I was saying…” disregarding anything they’ve said.

Im treating their interruption as no more significant than a passing car.

People talking over each other is extremely annoying to me.

For me, it was my husband of 28 years. He is a master at being extremely covertly manipulative. I was consistently being left in confusion, feeling like I was the problem. I finally started realizing what he was doing. It was totally on purpose.
He could never appreciate my accomplishments, he belittled my art, my ideas, even my looks in the most subtle, backhanded ways that they would go unnoticed by me and others. He said things to my friends and family behind my back and eventually, I was isolated and confused about who I was.
I left him nearly a year ago and, with much inner work, I'm growing in self love and self confidence.
This is what a covert narcissist does. They isolated you and tear you down.
I'm getting really good at seeing the red flags now. Thank you for this video. It is super helpful information. I wish I had known this years ago. 🎉❤
