  35 years on and everyone still talking about Thelma and Louise.  Proves it is one of the biggest successful films.

  The first time we watched it, my husband rewound the tape and immediately watched it again from the beginning. Only time I ever saw him do that.

  It’s not that we want to be them - we understand them and their choices, based on our own experiences, is the point. Amazing movie 🍿 💕

  I so loved this movie.  It was unpredictable.  The scenery was amazing.

  My twin brother and I got to spend two days on the set of Thelma and Louise. <br><br>We went to visit our grandmother who lived in a small town called Thompson. We’d been going to there to visit since we were born. <br><br>It was a tiny town close to Moab, Utah. Thompson had a population of about 70, and our grandparents 2 of those 70, and had immigrated from Italy and had lived there since the 1930’s. <br><br>As we were driving into town, we saw it had literally been taken over by people, trucks, campers (i.e. Honey wagons) We had thought a carnival had come to town. We were 11 years old at the time. <br><br>Then we saw the movie cameras and all the crew members. Now, for us, it was like Disneyland had just appeared in town. <br><br>We were familiar with large film crews, because only two year earlier, we were there in Thompson (staying with our grandma) while an entire feature film called “Sundown” was being filmed there in town. That film had David Carradine, Bruce Campbell, etc. <br><br>However, this new film in town was three times larger of a production. And we (my twin, and our cousin) were the only kids in town. <br><br>So Mimi Gitlin (as seen from this BTS video above) she was so wonderful and got to know us and took us all over the set. <br><br>Mimi introduced us to Ridley Scott, (we didn’t know who he was at the time) but we had a blast as he talked to us for a little while. &nbsp;<br><br>Interesting fact; Ridley Scott was the first person with an accent (and foreigner) that we had ever met in our lives, besides our grandpa and grandma from Italy, who both had thick Italian accents.(I guess that’s why we really didn’t think about his accent when we met him).<br><br>We were introduced to a lot of very cool crew members (overall we were gobsmacked, we’d dreamed many years of directing Motion Pictures). And even today, my twin brother and I consider Thelma and Louise as a huge inspiration on our goal to become filmmakers. <br><br>Anyway, Mimi then introduced us to Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. Mimi said of Geena; “This is Geena, she’s on our Stars of the film, she was in a movie called The Fly, it’s rated R, I’m sure your parents haven’t let you watch it.”<br><br>Geena had a huge beautiful smile, and &nbsp;seemed genuinely pleased to meet us, and shook all our hands. She then finished Mimi’s sentence saying: “The Fly is also really gross, very scary, and might give you all nightmares”. So I made an important mental note at that moment; “be sure to remember and &nbsp;watch the gross movie about flies”.<br><br>Now that I think of it, we were super lucky to have Mimi (the producer of the movie) take us around. It also helped we were friendly little kids, and she just took us under her wing. <br><br>Having her treat us like real people was really special. Also being the only kids (and the only people watching them film) helped. <br><br>But having her guide us around really helped everyone open up to us. Especially getting to meet the star of Beetlejuice. (One of our favorite movies at the time). <br><br>Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon were very nice, Susan was much more quiet. But Geena Davis was genuinely an incredibly kind person (with a great &nbsp;sense of sarcasm) she let the three of us hang out with her for a while, while Mimi had to get back to work. Geena was also TALLL- 6 feet tall, the tallest lady (we also called women ladies back then) the tallest lady I had ever seen in my life until then. <br><br>I had already take a bunch of pictures of the set, and I got a picture with Geena Davis while she was in her iconic wardrobe. Again, she was so tall, she had to kneel down next to me to fit into the photo. I still have that phone to this day. It’s even saved on my phone right now. <br><br>One of the scenes they were filming when we arrived, is the scene where Thelma and Louise stop at a gas station and go into a diner so Thelma can make a call to her husband. <br><br>We were mostly right next Ridley Scott who was on the camera filming; or we’d be just off of frame in many of the shots. And they could not stop talking about this guy named BRAD, a lot of the crew would talk to us and mentioned him more than a few times. <br><br>They said he was an actor who was in the film and whose scenes they had shot the week before, and that he was going to be a HUGE STAR. It was funny seeing some of the younger gals on the crew talking about his shirt being off. (Since then my twin and I have followed Brad Pitts career, you couldn’t miss it).<br><br>We watched them film the next day, and Mimi had invited us (and our grandma) to come to Dead Horse Point the next day to watch them film the car going over the cliff. We felt so lucky! <br><br>But, we never made it the next day, it was quite the journey to be in a car with your grandma at the wheel, and we got lost, but drove to Moab and got ice cream, so yay? 🤷 little did we know that we had missed watching them film one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history. <br><br>Everyone by the fourth day were gone, but there were many union truck drivers back in Thompson the next day, taking sets down, and loading everything up and driving away. <br><br>I remember thinking if the movie would ever come out. I had forgotten what the title was, so did all of us. We really wanted to know when it finally made it to theaters. <br><br>We knew part of the title was a name, so we just called it “Grandma’s Movie”, because our grandma’s name was, Louise.

  The colouration of this film always blew my mind. Everything rust-coloured and turquoise.

  I spent a lot of time watching movies as a young boy. Thelma &amp; Louise is probably one of the most influential movies ever made. I can’t even put it into words.<br>I’m 43 and I still tell young people to watch it because it is amazing

  This was a great film. And I really enjoyed this breakdown &quot;behind the scenes&quot; documentary. It was really such a collaborative set and production, and I love Ridley Scott&apos;s work and his direction really elevated the script and the final cut. 👍🎬🎭
