My suggestion for steel, even if nobody asked but maybe helps someone, is to use a smaller end mill, e.g. 4 mm. Then take a much deeper depth of cut, about 6 mm, but only a stepover of around 7%. Use a cutting speed (vc) of about 250 and a feed per tooth of 0.08 mm. This approach is called HSC (High-Speed Cutting). Compared with high-power cutting, you run much higher speeds and feeds but with a much smaller stepover. This reduces the load on the machine mechanics and should result in less vibration.

Get an end mill that has a corner radius. Like a .5mm rad. And stub that up into the collet as much as you can. You have it sticking out a lot farther than needed. This causes chatter and vibration. Then re-run your steel test. I guarantee the results will be much better. I've been running cnc mills for 30 years cutting all kinds of steels.

At this price point it's a steal. If you try and buy the parts to build it, you probably end up spending more. I'm really tempted! The 710 watt spindle is just your regular old Makita trimmer, which now has been copied by many brands. I've got a very nice version of it at lidl, made by parkside for 49 bucks.

I hope it will cut a 10mm slot in some 1/8 steele flat-bar.1/8 2-fluted end mill?
