  To save money on soil, you can fill the bottom with your fall leaves, grass clippings, etc.  it will compost in the bottom and feed your plants.   You will see some shrinking of the soil as it decomposes, just add more dirt to the top next season.  Love me some strawberries!!!   To help keep track of the new plants/runners the 2nd and 3rd year I use the colored twist ties found on bread bags. Example: Yellow goes around the 1st yr runners the mother plants get a red one. Keep track of the colors codes over the years on an index card noting the type, yr and how many of each :-)

  I’m in FL and I just bought three strawberry plants. They have white little flowers. Me and my daughter are doing it, and it’s our first time growing anything! We’re excited! lol
