  I use hair pins. Cheap and holds the runners perfectly till they are established.

  I grew my strawberry plants from the runners off three plants from last year. So at autumn last year I had about 21 plants (incl the original 3). I’ve planted them up in my veg beds and added manure to the soil as you suggested. I have watered as needed and fed with Tomorite every 2 weeks. I’ve just had lots of leaf growth but few flowers. I’ve been cutting off the runners. I’ve had about 4 fruits in total from them. I don’t know what variety they are because I bought them from the garden centre. Feel a bit disappointed with them as they look so healthy but produce nothing. Don’t know what’s gone wrong 😭. Do you think it might be because the plants are still young?

  Ive seen people grow strawberry in clay soil in pots and they are fruiting so much. internet says avoid clay, i was wondering what is he benifit of clay mixed in soil? they said water retention but other says it will drown and cause root rot.

  Thank you for this informative video, Adam.   I have lots of alpine strawberry plants in small pots on my patio but the urban foxes move around them and they become splashed with soil when I am watering them.  I am going to create my own somewhat vertical urban strawberry farm by arranging them in tubs on my windowsill and hanging baskets each side of the window.  They will be in sun for a large part of the day and will be easy for me to water and won't be spoiled by dirt or foxes.  I'll look back at this video and incorporate your advice and I am sure this summer I'll appreciate more breakfast strawberries.

  Thank you for this video! I got lots of plants off my 3 strawberry plants but I had no idea how to grow in a bed. Have followed your advice exactly for the ones I planted in the veg bed. My son is so excited to eat summer strawberries 🍓

  Fantastic video. I am trying to grown from seed this year, but also plan on some runners. Conflicting advice on when to pot up runners for greenhouse. Would anytime be ok because they are hardy?
