  A dear friend talked about making rag rugs when he was a pre-teen and teenager in the early years of the Great Depression. He was too sickly to work on the family farm, his brothers did the heavy work. He collected scraps from extended family and neighbors, made rag rugs and walked miles to town to sell those rugs to buy the things his family could not grown on the farm. Coffee, shoes, etc. His family valued his contribution as much as his brothers and sisters who literally put food on the table. He put shoes on their feet.

  I bought a giant loom when I moved to a senior living apartment and two months later I accidentally ran into a man who has Sheep 🐑 and gives me all the unprocessed wool I can want and now I am making these out of wool roving that I wash and process and card and process all by myself 😂 I made my first one out of old jeans 👖 and Jute when I moved in and lost 30 pounds 🎉

  i made 32 of these rugs with thrifted items that couldnt be donated, while i was in covid19 lockdown. and watched this video about 16 times. &nbsp;I dont know how to be bored.

  My nana told me it wasn’t worth making these rag rugs cuz they were so cheap at the store. Now I can’t find them this is great. I was making braided rugs.

  Years ago someone told me how to remember warp and weft... &nbsp; the Weft runs from weft to wight!!<br>Sounds silly but I&apos;ve never muddled them again...40 years later!!

  Oh my goodness I think I may have just found a new hobby. As a disabled mostly wheelchair bound crafter something like this is so something I can do and they are just stunning. My wife grew up with these types of rugs in Germany and was surprised that we don&apos;t tend to have them here in the UK. I&apos;m off to watch the video about making the loom so my wife can make me one. Thank you so much x

  This is the kind of wonderful information about how to use up scrap fabric that you just can&apos;t find with a quick google search. &nbsp;Everyone wants you to make fabric flower pots and headbands but I don&apos;t need either. &nbsp;I do need something that is not tile-floor cold to stand on during a winter morning when I am bleary-eyed and brushing my teeth. &nbsp;Also, a great way to use up extra fabric that you either accumulated yourself or were given to you. &nbsp;Even an &quot;ugly print&quot; fabric would be fantastic as the print would largely get absorbed into the business of the rest of the rug.
