The Most Overlooked RDR2 Playstyle

In my opinion there is no such thing as "perfect" journal and it shouldn't be. Each journal is perfect however you filled it, cause it tells your unique story and journey. Your journal can tell your gamestyle (do anything but the main story, cause it's open world and you free to do so) or even your opinion about john and arthur (do you like arthur that much than john that you will not give john a single drawing that is not unique to him, and even willing to break your immersion with glitches or mods for that purpose). Filling up journal that way makes it... fake? In my opinion at least. It no longer shows your jorney, it just shows an attempt to fill it with minimal epty spaces, or in a "lore accurate" way which forgets about importance of players perspective. Art never was about the how beautiful it is, in my opinion. The most important part is the story behind it. Which gives all of it a meaning

All that work making the journal look nice just for John to scribble all over it :face-blue-smiling:

I really like the idea that John is one of the first people to read Arthur's journal after his death and decides to fill up the empty pages as a way of saying goodbye to his friend.

I saw a girl surprise her man with Arthur’s journal, 100% completed and took her a looooong time getting the art exactly how he made it

Next run: The John Maxed Journal. Try to get through with as little drawing as possible with Arthur and let John fill it up with his doodles

As an artist that also knows a lot of other artists, I have to say, Arthur putting one tiny sketch into one corner of a page and then skipping three pages to draw something else unrelated is a more accurate depiction of an artist's sketchbook than the heavily curated one you're going for.

Matter of fact, a lot of experienced artists tell that you shouldn't curate the sketchbook, it stifles your creativity, limit what, when and how you can draw. A sketchbook isn't meant to be a work of art, it's meant to be practice.

This is WAY too much work for me to ever do personally, but I applaud your ability, patience, and attention to detail. Completely fascinating.

I have to say: Arthur's journal was the inspiration for my very own motorcycle diary.
Some years ago a close friend of mine gifted me a blank book, that sat on my desk until I played RDR2. Then, I knew what to do and now that blank book has become MY journal, where I sketch sceneries, locations map, quick notes from my journeys.
That book lives in my saddlebags alongside a pencil, waiting for anything worth remembering.
