  There's something so friendly about this channel, including the comments😊 It's my first year trying to grow some vegetables and berries. Watching all those seedling coming up and growing is such a nice thing to wake up to! Also, I am surprised at how resistant seedlings are. Yesterday, my conservatory/orangery sort of area went from 0 to 42 degrees in a few hours and everything from lettuces to tiny, just pricked-out tomatoes survived! Yes, I sowed some things far too early, but it doesn't really matter because it's not about world peace, just a few seeds, very little compost and a lot of fun experimenting - with the help of nice people on YouTube.

  As a respiratory health professional, I'm so glad to see you representing good PPE here. Products like perlite and vermiculite are tiny rocks that, when inhaled in to your lungs, can cause significant damage! It may shock you to learn that your lungs do not like tiny rocks and will form scar tissue around them. When inhaled in large quantities, you basically get miner's lung. It's bad. Don't do it. An n95 may seem like overkill but miner's lung is no joke and you're only born with one set of lungs! Take care of them. Thank you!

  I've been growing the same beefsteak tomato plant for over 10 years now. I keep it by the window in our dining room all year long and when spring comes, I take cuttings which root in only about 7 days. Since the cutting are technically 10 years old they flower immediately cutting 6-7 weeks off my growing time. Every year I get a ton of big beautiful beefsteaks and 10' monster tomato plants.

  I use my car as a makeshift greenhouse.  I keep the windows cracked so they get a tiny breeze at the same time.

  I was always - ugh - pricking out = boring, takes too long 😂 - but.. then i turned it into a garden therapy session 😅 where I make special time for it, cup of coffee, gardening podcast, comfy seat and nice big bench. Now i love it!
