Air flow is huge after germination indoors. Having a fan circulating air is a game changer. It helps with damping off and algae.

Yippee, this topic had me laughing so hard I nearly watered my seedlings with tears because oh my goodness, the moment you said “seed‑starting mistakes pros never make,” my whole spirit whispered, “Luise… brace yourself, this is about you,” and it absolutely was. I still remember the year I tried to start seeds like a confident homesteader and ended up creating what looked like a tiny swamp ecosystem in my living room. I overwatered so badly that one tomato seedling floated past me like it was on a lazy river ride, and I literally said out loud, “Girl… plants are supposed to grow, not swim.” Then there was the time I put my trays too close to the window, and a gust of wind sent half my seedlings flying across the room like they were auditioning for an action movie. But seriously, once I learned the basics the pros swear by, everything changed. Suddenly I wasn’t drowning my plants, cooking them under grow lights, or whisper‑yelling “Why aren’t you growing?” like a stressed plant parent. And the productivity boost was wild. When your seedlings are thriving, you start thriving too. You communicate better, you stop procrastinating, and you walk around feeling like a responsible adult who can nurture life instead of accidentally composting it. So yes, this topic hit home in the funniest, most humbling way, and I’m cheering for every beginner who finally realizes the pros aren’t magical… they just don’t repeat the chaos we all secretly create.

TL:DR - don't dig up your seeds twice a day to see if they've sprouted.

Last year I got caught up with work and my plants got hit with spider mites. I had literally pepper plants that were sticks and tomatoes with a few leaves but the root ball was the size of an 8oz cup. I figured the roots looked great maybe I would get lucky. Anyways about 8 days later leaves were sprouted out of peppers and tomatoes were placed in the grow deeper than usual. Well I had a bumper crop. It reminded me of recovery... When you're down there are only two ways to go... Fight or Flight. The resilience of those plants were incredible. The only thing that did not do well were cucumbers but everyone in my area had an issue. I always learn something every year in my 60 years of growing. NICE 🙂

Read the seed packet before you plant, too. Some take weeks to sprout. Great video for wanna be pros.
