things i learned as an ER nurse which helps while traveling: 1) nothing mixes well with alcohol. Do not get drunk out in public. 2) nothing good happens after midnight. Wherever you are be in bed by midnight. 3) helmets and seat belts save lives no matter where you are in the world. Dont take a vacation from safety. 4) be aware of your surroundings.

Working as a photojournalist I was told by an old veteran photographer he always brings his photo gear around in an old cartoon diaper bag. Nobody wants to risk dirty diapers

I knew a guy that had a pair of old white underwear with a painted brown stain in them. A hidden pocket was sewn into them. Nobody ever touched them.

Oh, one more thing... put a thick rubber band around your front pocket wallet. It creates A LOT of pulling friction for a would be  pick pocket.

Leave the TV on when you leave the room. Robbers usually don’t want to steal when someone is in the room.  Try to sneak out of the hotel, don’t be waving to the staff as you go by so they don’t know you are out.

If you don't need a laptop for work don't carry one with you. You can do 95% of you stuff with your smartphone today.

Don't hide anything  inside a pillow case at hotels.  We change pillow cases or puff up pillows everytime we go in the room!!

What I appreciated about this video is the quick start to getting into your topic.  So many people take up 2-5 minutes of jabbering before getting to the point.  The longest time I have waited was 7 minutes.  Never again.

I keep almost all my valuable/irreplacable things at home. The other stuff is my passport, travel documents and government id. Those I keep inside my clothes except when I have to show them. Sewing pockets into one's clothing is useful.

a friend got a fake rolex and fake diamond ring to travel with.  I explained that the thieves do not know these are fake and she will still be a target.  Nobody needs to wear jewelry when traveling.

I traveled to  India a few years  ago,  had a cloth vest, REAL DEEP POCKETS,  with elastic stitched into them, that had clips to hold my travel wallet.. Wallet attached to me by fishing trace wire, and a  clip onto my belt. Same for camera,  worked well in USA, so did the India trip the same. Muggers Wallet, old bank card, of any sort / discount card..some cash..Easy to give up.. Also a whistle at neck, came in handy at Sanfansico,  two guys hanging off my elbows, TILL I PULLED OUT MY LITTLE ALERT WHISTLE. They were GONE. Traveled on my OWN. ... Take care out there. Cheers..
