As a knitter, I can say. that ‘wool’ is too broad a category to be able to gauge ithchiness of online products you can’t try on. It varies signficantly depending on the breed of sheep and processing. Superwash wool is much softer than non superwash, for example because it has a coating that prevents it shrinking or felting in the wash. Merino is softer than icelandic wool, which comes from sheep that have long, coarse guard hairs to keep the sheep warm and dry in the winter. Perfect if you want your sweater to do the same but itchy as all get out if you are sensitive. I have a v neck cardigan I knit from icelandic lettlopi, which is fine because it comes nowhere near my neck. Keep giving wool a chance by trying until you find one that works for you. It’s a magical material xx

I'd also consider how a garment feels sitting down.

A mini skirt with sequins might look amazing standing up, but sitting on sequins for any period of time feels so uncomfortable to me 😕

On the subject of coats: it’s also an option to just pick a coat you like and know doesn’t fit any outfit if you’re fine with that. For me, outerwear doesn’t factor in to an outfit. My winter coat is huge, fuzzy, and cow print with ears and horns on the hood. It matches nothing apart from color matching. But I love it! It’s very cute and warm! Sometimes a piece that makes you happy outweighs styling. 😂

Wool is often not properly cared for. Thrifted wool sweaters are always insanely itchy. Most of the time they need just one good soak and wash with a proper wool detergent. Wool is just hair. Just imagine how rough out hair would be if you wash it for years with let's say dish soap and never condition it 😅 And this is also the reason why blends are a bad idea in my opinion, because the wool part never gets the proper care with common laundry detergent.

For hats: consider your hair. Will your hair fit in it, will you hear get messed up, is your hair silky and that type of hat will slide

I just want to say that I really appreciate you using a lot of diverse body types in your reference pictures because I feel like a lot of YouTubers just go for the standard of quite “idealistic” body types and it’s very welcoming of you to include such diversity.

A thing that I don't see people address very much but is definitely true -- if your "duplicate item" purchases are "I own this in a size/fit I can't wear comfortably" it is not actually a duplicate! Clothes that don't fit aren't clothes you can wear! If your favorite sweater makes you feel like you're being squeezed, it's okay to get a similar sweater that fits! If your heavy winter coat feels like wearing a blanket in a bad way, get a smaller one! Even if you think your current shape is temporary. Please let yourself wear nice and comfortable clothes at ALL stages of your life, not just the ones you previously had or think you should be in. Especially things like shoes, coats, and temperature regulating gear. A lot of that plain doesn't work if you can't close it or it flops open. If it's the wrong size next year, just give it away and use what fits you then. You will always regret not having a coat that fits because your previous coat is perfectly fine for a body you don't have.

This is kind of specific but buying winter shoes/boots that aren't already lined with insulating material that ALSO don't have enough room for wool socks. Your toes WILL BE COLD or CRAMPED

It can be very cold where I live & while you are correct about mittens being warmer, they kill your ability to handle keys or grab a bus pass from your bag. The elite combo is mittens over leather gloves so your poor fingers don’t have to hang out in the cold all naked. 😂

On the subject of festive party outfits: remember when we were little girls and had just ONE fancy dress? The one which we'd wear when visiting Grandma or going to the zoo? Putting it on was always such a thrill. I too have only one fancy dress. I work from home. I don't go clubbing ever. My friends are also homebodies, so we spend our shared time inside. Last time I needed that fancy dress was three years ago (for a party which took place in a posh restaurant.) It still fits me and judging by the frequency of those occasions, it shall remain in pristine condition for the next decade. So why should I get another?

I'm such a cold-blooded person! I wear cotton turtlenecks underneath my sweaters anyway so it doesn't matter how scratchy they are 😄
