I have to add: do buy band t-shirts new if you're buying from bands directly or at shows. It helps support smaller bands and artists. Do thrift if you're only into the designs for fashion.

Fun fact: Satin is not a type of fabric, it is in fact a weaving method

Flip flops as a trend is CRAZY to me. As someone who grew up in Brazil, flip flops are the shoes you wear to be comfy and to go places you don’t “need” to put so much effort when choosing an outfit: the beach, the street market, the bakery (when you just want to grab some fresh pastries). Buy flip flops but understand their main purpose :P

About the Aliexpress "dupes" - they are nowhere near the quality and the material of the original, made of 100% poly. Been there, done that, never again

Fyi recyceled polyester fabrics are greenwashing: most recycled polyester is made from PET, such as plastic bottles, that are pulled out of a closed loop recycling process that then becomes new fabric that can not be recycled well anymore - it’s a marketing tactic
So just because a brand uses recycled materials it does not mean that their products are eco-friendly
Additionally fabrics made from recycled material fall apart much easier - this means they create more microplastic when you wash them for example

i get all of that but sometimes the fact that something is super impractical makes it veeery chic too me. i always bike to work and if don't for once i wear all the non-bikeable items and feel like a princess ✨✨

Also I find off-the-shoulder tops impractical (especially warm fabric ones) cuz the top is warm but your shoulders are freezing

The only thing I disagree with on here is not buying clothes that come already layered because you can layer them yourself. Sometimes buying these items already sewn together help me because otherwise, there are some pieces where if I layered 2 separate pieces of clothing myself, it can become impractical if they shift around a lot. There are some pieces I can get away with this, but for the ones that don't, it's nice stumbling upon those already sewn together pieces.

I have a lot of knit short sleeves because they are super practical for my job: I’m a chemist and having a warm sweater with sleeves that don’t get in my way in lab is such a game changer…

The answer to the it itchy sweaters problem is to get to know the materials. I’ve learned this as a knitter but it’s useful knowledge to have when shopping as well. Wool and mohair often itches a bit but there’s variation, merino wool for example is super soft. For most people alpaca doesn’t itch. The softer, good quality materials might be a bit more expensive but trust me, it’s so worth it
