  I remember when this song came out. I was completely stunned by the sound. Back then I had no idea how it was done I just knew it was awesome! Pete Townshend is one of rocks greatest composers and most talented guitar players. Few realize he was a an early synth innovator and adopter. He didn't just start messing with syths by 1976 for Who Are You, he was using them as far back as 1970, Who's Next is full of synth sounds. He purchased one of the early ARP 2500 units and still has it. He acquired his ARP 2600 soon after and helped ARP in advertising.

  Pete is..."THE GOAT"! He's been my "Guitar Hero" for 50 years+ and the reason I learned to play. Seen The WHO 20 times. Last one was in Orlando...FRONT ROW DEAD CENTER. End of the show I was weeping...Pete bent down and handed me his Guitar pick. Roger had the biggest smile on his face. My wife standing next to me just froze with her mouth open....Roger reached over and shook her hand. I swear she didn't wash it for a week. God I LOVE those guys and that Band. :)

  Pete&apos;s synth work is amazing. He made his own rule book and made it up as he went along. Quadrophenia in particular has some killer synth and production too.

  I love how Tim looks like a kid in a candy store. &nbsp;I know that feeling. &nbsp;I remember one summer when my brother and me &quot;borrowed&quot; our Junior High School&apos;s ARP Odyssey synthesizer over summer vacation in the &apos;70s. It was an amazing bit of tech back then, and we spent endless hours jamming Edgar Winter - Frankenstein and Herbie Hancock&apos;s Headhunters - Chameleon. &nbsp;It was endless hours of jamming in my brother&apos;s bedroom before we could even drive. ADSR, baby! We had so much fun!
