  Went to a cinema in Japan and can&apos;t believe how quiet and respectful it was, everyone even stayed to watch all the credits until the end.

  For me (Croatian), it was when I made an American friend and she would say, &quot;Oh, really?&quot; when we talked. I thought she kept implying that I was lying. Turned out, that&apos;s just something Americans say during conversation to prompt you to tell them more.

  Eating and drinking during a movie is extremely normal in the U.S., but yelling &quot;Boom!&quot; when someone gets punched or kicked in a martial arts movie is where I draw the line.

  Chewing gum was definitely considered rude for me in America as a kid ( I am Gen X ) but mostly if it was &nbsp;in front of your elders, at meals, at church or other formal settings. It was sometimes permitted in school but it was &nbsp;rude to blow bubbles or make noises. Some teachers would forbid it.

  From the UK here, the few times I&apos;ve gone to America I&apos;ve gone to the cinema and that experience is just so bizzare. The person sat on my left was a knee slapper, whacking his leg with every slight joke, and when an actual &quot;big funny&quot; moment happened he grabbed my shoulder and shook me as he couldn&apos;t control his own laughter... I didn&apos;t know this person.

  In a fine dining restaurant here in the US, it’s also rude to blow your nose at the table.

  As an Aussie, I habitually say g&apos;day to people. When I visited Japan last year, I found myself falling on old habits and occasionally said g&apos;day to Japanese people. Everyone was very polite and didn&apos;t admonish me for being rude (even though they may have been offended). I just hope they all realised that I was an Aussie tourist with strange habits.
