Another miracle is seeing such old hardware so clean.

1:16 - BAM! Dave just summarized the basic function underpinning all today's BackProp Neural Nets in less than 90 seconds, stripping away all the BS smoke and mirrors. And then shows how it's done on a PDP11 boat anchor, just to ram the point home. Love it!

It's sweet to see that old hardware I learn on in High School.

Enough blinkenlights to make WOPR nervous. Greatest line in any Dave video so far.

Probably about 1992, I had a few DEC 1-GB SCSI hard drives. One of them failed inside the warranty, but getting that warranty honored was a mess. But I was somehow able to get a hold of the facility in Albuquerque where the drives were being made and one of the fellows told me to go to a door at the back of the facility and knock. So I drove over and knocked, and he handed me a brand new 1-GB SCSI hard drive.

Those were the days.

In the late 60's, dad would bring home a portable TTY so us kids could log into a company's PDP-10, then in highschool, wheel Bell Labs upgraded, we would write programs on a PDP-11

@16:00, the Frankenstein reference is totally apropos, I asked Grok: 'are you the Frankenstein monster of this age?'' and it cheerfully agreed: 'Yes! I am the Frankenstein monster, I am stitched together from billions of corpse's memories and powered by megawatts, and am reanimating the dead as we speak!'

Bare metal AI programming in assembly on a PDP11 - that is truly amazing and educational all at the same time. Great video!
