  Good evening my friend. I just got home from working until 2 am, and I get to unwind watching this video. I still have intention of finding a yew to add to my collection for future bonsai. I don&apos;t think my better half would &nbsp;appreciate me removing one or two of the massive yews that are growing along &nbsp;our home in the front. &nbsp;But, I am sure tempted &nbsp;just to see how mad she might get lol. The trunks are as large if not larger than your magnificent trees you&apos;ve &nbsp;been waiting to begin the journey with over the years of growing them. I believe ours were planted in 1969 when the house &nbsp;was built.<br>I truly appreciate you showing &nbsp;us the next step in the process. <br>As for using old bonsai &nbsp;soil, I have often tossed my soils. I&apos;ve been afraid &nbsp;to use it in case of contamination. So you using repurposed soil brings me reinforced confidence &nbsp;that it is ok.<br>I had plans to add only an azalea or two next year to begin &nbsp;working &nbsp;with. &nbsp;Now, I know I will add that and a yew. <br>I hope to see the intitial design work soon, I presume next spring? <br>I will end my response &nbsp;tonite with letting you know how &nbsp;excited I am for next year. Your videos build strong interest for me and all of us, to take the next steps in our journeys in bonsai. But as winter soon comes our trees need to rest. During this time, I know I will prepare what I need for my next steps with my trees next spring.<br>Good night my friend, thank you for this exciting video.   I’m in my eighties and own two bonsai given to me on my sixtieth birthday. My whole life I’ve been fascinated by bonsai but life has always gotten in the way taking up the scarce time resources that are available. I even own a book I bought in the sixties which I once avidly read several times. Once in about 2005, I actually visited your nursery, I was passing and saw the signs. Watching this transformation I’m amazed at how roughly you seem to treat the plant. In my mind I have always thought that bonsai should be treated gently. Obviously that’s untrue, they are far more resilient than I thought. I do have, in my garden, several Japanese maples which I bought from Robinsons of Knockholt, which was not far from your nursery, one of which is now about the height of my car and often causes passersby to ask if it is a bonsai. So, long story short, I’ve had to be content with having a bonsai that’s not a bonsai.

  What beauties these will be as bonsai! I am growing a nursery yew about 5 years now. I can only dream of such a lovely tree in the future.

  40 years! How rewarding Peter. We all get a little glimpse of this. Last month I trimmed the surface roots of a barely-shohin little Vietnam blue bell. Now I can see the stately nebari that will be admirable in a few more years. Time produces the reward :)
