Someone said “The devil left me alone when I left Christianity”. I felt that in my soul.

I started deconstructing over LGBTQ+ issues. How can someone saying they're called to love everyone be so hateful?!

How can they tell blantant lies and claim to "speak the truth in love?"

Additionally, I didn't think God was a good guy and if he was a person, I wouldn't want to be around them.

It was an awakening when someone said "Even if God DID exist, I wouldn't like him" that finally gave me permission to just remove that god as a reverent figure

Full on atheist here.

As a child (ages 9-11) I told my mama I really didn't believe in religion/god etc. I never heard no one speak against. It was just in me not to agree. Well, like typical black parents, they tell you to shut up and not question god. So, I shut up and went along with the program. I went from Christianity to Hebrew Israelites. Then I walked away from it all in 2016. I couldn't no longer go along with it anymore. I've never been at more peace than I am since walking away. NO CHURCH HURT, I simply used COMMON SENSE and LOGIC. I know we didn't just come from nowhere, but we don't know how we came to be either. I feel more spiritually connected to the energy within. To each its own, just don't force your beliefs on anyone else.

I deconstructed and feel great about it. I don't have any church hurt or trauma. I just came to the realization that this religion is all a fantasy and was never meant to be taken literally.

I remember being a young Christian (20s) that when people would tell me they didn’t believe in god, I would be like, OMG how could you not and trying to convert them. Ish was crazy looking back. Now here I am, an agnostic old ahhh lady (38). So funny to me looking back how I viewed people because of their beliefs bc I was taught that there was only one way to walk in life.

Someone challenged me once about religion and it opened my eyes. Me moving away from my small hometown where everyone thought the same really opened my eyes. I began to question things and just felt like things I once believed in just did not make sense to me.

I say challenged, but really it was just them expressing why they were no longer Christian and how they got to that point.

The grief I experienced was with my parents. They felt like I was the devil and was going to hell. They would always say, you can believe what you want but when it’s all said and done … basically casting me to hell 😂 I can laugh now, but as it was happening it was not a good feeling to be rejected by them.

14:04 This is so true and so powerful!! It was the fear of hell that kept me in the faith. But like she said, once I deconstructed that, I was able to leave Christianity and find a spiritual path that works for me.
