I went to a Seder a few years back at the home of someone I met through a researcher from New Mexico. I knew my father's family were Sephardic Jews who had escaped the Inquisition in Mexico City in the 1580s. I knew nothing about my mother's family history as she died when I was three and my father remarried an Irish Catholic woman. The woman hosting the Seder was like me a Hispanic/Sephardi from New Mexico. I had lived openly as a Jew for two decades in Los Angeles, which I could not do in New Mexico, as my family still hides their Judaism. During the break between the Seder and the meal, the hostess' mother who was raised as a Catholic in New Mexico started telling about how they had a meal like this when she was a child in NM during the 1920s. She had forgotten about the Seder since in Los Angeles after they moved here during WWII they stopped it. Being from NM family genealogy is important among the old families. So we started chatting, and comparing lineages. It turned out she was my maternal grand mother's first cousin, and remembered my grand mother and her family hosting the Seder one year and attending it at her parent's home the next. She had no idea the Seder was a Jewish ritual, or that her family were Jews, but it confirmed for me that my mother's side of the family, like my fathers were Marrano or Anusim (hidden or secret Jews) from New Mexico, many who remain in hiding to this day.

I've never participated in Passover (I'm a honkey from Alaska, I haven't met many Jews) and this was great to learn about. I really love this Jewish film club thing you have going on. It's very engaging and an interesting way to learn about Jewish culture and the struggles within.<br><br>(I'll remember to eat before attending a Passover dinner, possibly the most valuable info in here, haha)

I grew up in an orthodox / conservative home and this really hit my heart. My grandfather who was the patriarch of our family died years ago and I really miss him at the Passover seder every year

I grew up doing seders with my Syrian Jewish family and watching this video made me feel like I know nothing about the seder, we have completely different rituals and traditions, never did afikoman, never asked the questions, everybody does it together, the singing is different. I'd probably feel like a stranger going into an Ashkenazi seder.

I've been attending Seders for seventy five years, the first five I don't remember, but my late mother assured me I was there. These scenes remind me of our Seders, joy the conflicts, but the difference between the prayers deIeved by each member. Thank you for bringing this program to us. L'CHIEM V'AM YISROAL CHI..

I am so glad I found this channel. I feel there are too few movies with Jewish themes, and so many I am unaware of. I love to learn!

Thank you so much...I really appreciate these movies that you listed regarding Passover Seder. I just watched<br><b>"When do we eat and it really struck my heart. I was raised as a Christian and I have always been interested in</b><br><b>Jewish traditions. I will go down the list. I will move on to "Left Luggage" and then to "Family Business." I have</b><br><b>already watched the rest. Loved them!</b> 💫
