  How I personally know we're in a simulated experience with multiple worlds theory, I dream of my home, but it's elsewhere in other places. I get there and see things I don't recognize and feel I've been gone for a long time like nobody is tending to it. I also meet so many different people, that I know I wouldn't ever have the opportunity to meet. I also dream of events, prior to them happening, then recall the dream, when it's experienced IRL.

  One thing I think people forget is that totems aren&apos;t meant as a check to see if you&apos;re in a dream or not, they&apos;re there to make sure you&apos;re not in <i>another</i> person&apos;s dream. &nbsp;If you know an object intimately, and no one else does, another person can&apos;t replicate it completely. &nbsp;Mal&apos;s totem would completely work for Cobb as long as Mal let him learn it, which is actually a sign of complete trust in Cobb, a trust he betrayed when he incepted her. &nbsp;The spinning forever was just a cool trick Mal would do, that became a constant reminder of Cobb&apos;s betrayal, because that was the seed he used for the inception that led to her death. &nbsp;But if he was convinced he was in the real world when he really wasn&apos;t, there is nothing stopping his subconscious from knocking it over every time (or anybody else that controls the dreamscape, for that matter).<br><br>The final scene in the movie isn&apos;t really important for whether or not the top keeps spinning, but for the fact that he left it on the table and walked away to go be with his children, symbolically leaving that guilt, which was the real thing that was keeping him from his kids, behind.

  I always thought the shot going to black before it was clear if the top was going to fall or not was just a sign that Cobb had finally decided he no longer really cared if it was real or a dream, he just wanted to be with his kids again

  It was never about tops or wedding rings. They were just something for the audience to focus on while the real &quot;totem&quot; was the actual dream machine itself. In all scenes where they came out of the dream within a dream or limbo they were hooked up to the machine. The only scene where they were not hooked up was the ending when Cobb and Sato came out of limbo on the plane. Nolan made it a point to show Cobb&apos;s hand being hooked up before they went into Fischer&apos;s dream and made it a point to show Cobb&apos;s hand holding the travel voucher after coming out of limbo clearly showing that Cobb and Sato were not hooked up. Nolan fooled everyone with a simple bait and switch knowing that the audience would focus on those trinkets instead of focusing on the obvious.

  I don&apos;t think it&apos;s been mentioned anywhere yet, but to add to this theory...<br>On top of the totems being specific to the user, I think it&apos;s specified that if ANYONE meddles with your totem it becomes completely useless. So Cob knowing the top was his wife&apos;s totem might relate to her losing sight of dreams vs reality in the first place!!?!

  At its core, this film is a retelling of the story of the minotaur&apos;s maze. Cobb is a modern Theseus and Mal the monster within the maze. Saito is King Minos, who sends Theseus into the maze to kill the monster, who we suppose to be Robert Fischer, but Robert is simply a plot device to construct the maze (the collective dream) around. Ariadne, who helps Theseus negotiate the maze, becomes a team of associates within the context of the film.

  having heard Nolan wax poetic about being a father, I think the top wobbling at the end is to show it is real, not showing it falling is to say that this life is &quot;living the dream.&quot;
