That's cool that the 'vision mode' lets you choose the hot mode. Real thermals are like this. Color gradient, white hot, black hot. It's typically a preference (or depending on condition, which you sort of discovered in game and is awesome that it works in game the same way) but some are also easier on the eyes depending on the ambient conditions.

Both my irl thermal scope and my irl thermal binos have same effects as "vision mode" has. I personally always have background as black and heat as white. It gives me less strain on my eyes in the dark

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCsfNhmWDpA&t=249">4:09</a> - in real life, modern suppressors (using baffles stacks or helical stacks rather than wipes) do not affect muzzle velocity in a negative way- most stay nearly identical, whist a few may actually increase muzzle velocity slightly- which would inherently increase muzzle energy. So the energy remaining the same with/without a suppressor in-game is pretty realistic.

black hot on thermals are great for going through trees. if they coded it closer to how itd look irl. youd see basically a black spot and your brain sees it easier
