  My take: <br>• Snape and Lily&apos;s friendship would still have broken apart - though she wouldn&apos;t have fully cut contact with him, the way she did after he called her a mudblood, immediately after he &apos;apologises&apos;<br>(as their friendship was already very fragile from:<br>- The way he applauded as her friends, like Mary, got frequently cursed and disfigured from experimental dark curses by Avery and other future Death Eaters, simply because they were not &apos;pureblood&apos;; pushing away Lily&apos;s pleas to Snape for him to stop Avery, by Snape saying &apos;it is only a harmless joke&apos;<br>- Snape had always being infatuated with the Dark Arts from even before the 1st year, which Lupin and Sirius had confirmed by saying &quot;Before the 1st year, Snape knew more curses then most 7th years combined&quot; which Lily wanted nothing to do with the Dark Arts side of Snape, which grew more and more, by the day<br>- Snape treating Lily as if she was already his and pretty much a possession, by saying &quot;They will not hurt you, whilst you are under my protection&quot;, which Lily hated because she was an independent person<br>- Lily already knew what Snape thought of Muggleborns, but treated Lily as someone not as an equal to everyone else, even before Snape said &quot;But you are different from other mudbloods&quot;<br>- Snape continuously questioned Lily on why she was talking to Lupin on his bad days where Lupin feels depressed; so Lily consistently made it her mission to cheer Lupin up by giving Lupin a shoulder to lean on for support, which made Lupin very fond of Lily; Snape knew Lily was talking to Lupin because he was watching and listening in on her at a distance)<br><br>• James would still have ended up with Lily, because he naturally matured and realised how bad he treated others; so started trying to make up for all the bad things he did to others - which got Lily to see James in a more good light, winning her affection by the 7th year<br>Plus James did save Snape&apos;s life in the 5th year, from Sirius&apos; &apos;prank&apos;, which would have got Lily to originally see James as not entirely ill-moralled<br><br>• Harry would still be born from Lily and James<br><br>• James, Sirius and Snape (who Lily would still have had minor contact with) may have been brung together and could have been persuaded to reconcile their differences, by Lily <br><br>• Snape would still have ended up joining the Death Eaters either way<br><br>It would have continued pretty much the way it did, but with minor differences
