Shaft Flex Is a Marketing Lie: 5 Brands EXPOSED (And 3 With Real CPM Numbers)

Golf shaft flex is a marketing letter, not a measurement — here's the CPM truth 5 shaft brands won't print. Cycles per minute (CPM) is the only real measure of shaft stiffness, and the same "Regular" or "Senior" stamp can swing 40-50 CPM between manufacturers — two full flex categories. We put the spotlight on no-name Amazon reshaft kits ($40-$75) with zero published data, Confidence Golf boxed sets ($300-$450), OEM stock shafts inside $499-$629 drivers, the TaylorMade Qi35 Max ($549-$599) and Titleist GT3 ($599-$629) and what their stock flex letters actually hide. Then we look at the brands that publish frequency data you can verify: KBS Tour Lite ($80-$115), Nippon N.S. Pro 950GH ($70-$95), True Temper Dynamic Gold, AMT Red and the wider True Temper line ($80-$140). Fitters at True Spec Golf and Club Champion see the overlap every week — and if your swing speed is under 90 mph, this costs you launch and carry. Pro 950GH Iron Shaft Set 4-PW (7 Shafts): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079NNVF39 ❓ QUICK ANSWERS Q: What does CPM mean on a golf shaft? A: CPM stands for cycles per minute, the shaft's stiffness measured on a frequency machine. Unlike the R, A or S letter, CPM is an actual number, and it can vary 40-50 CPM inside one labeled flex. Q: Is senior flex the same across all golf shaft brands? A: No. Fitters at True Spec Golf and Club Champion routinely find one brand's senior shaft frequencies matching another brand's regular. The letter is marketing; only CPM is measured. Q: Are cheap Amazon golf shafts worth it? A: No-name graphite reshaft kits at $40-$75 publish no CPM or torque data, so the flex letter is unverifiable. Verified options like Nippon N.S. Pro 950GH ($70-$95) or KBS Tour Lite ($80-$115) cost similar. Q: What is the best shaft brand for swing speeds under 90 mph? A: Look for brands that publish frequency data, such as KBS Tour Lite ($80-$115) and Nippon N.S. Pro 950GH ($70-$95). Our number one pick, revealed in the video, sells shafts from about $80-$140. 🔔 New golf gear verdicts daily — subscribe so the next overpriced brand doesn't get you. @honestyardage ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 Intro 1:54 #5 NO-NAME AMAZON — overpriced? 2:55 #4 CONFIDENCE GOLF — overpriced? 4:01 #3 OEM STOCK DRIVER — overpriced? 5:11 #2 TAYLORMADE QI35 MAX — overpriced? 6:03 #1 TITLEIST GT3 — overpriced? 9:26 #3 KBS TOUR LITE — worth it? 10:14 #2 NIPPON N.S.
