  Something I have begun to appreciate as I’ve gotten older about Shan Yu is that he is a competent military leader. He overcomes the patrols of the Great Wall, fights General Li’s army and completely destroys them, he’s overwhelming Shang’s forces with an ambush until Mulan pulls an avalanche, once he only has his elite he still infiltrates the palace and easily handles Shang in a 1v1. The only times he’s defeated is when Mulan uses explosives thinking completely outside the box with the aid of a dragon. Also shoutout to Grandma, the best character in the movie 🙌🏾

  What i appreciate so much is this movie broke down so many barriers. Sure it&apos;s exaggerated for kids but to have the first Asian Disney princess especially when the film was depicting a time where women weren&apos;t treated as equal is something I will always respect. Also fun fact not only did this film feature legends like james Hong and mr. Miyagi himself pat morita. But the Chinese version of I&apos;ll make a man out of you was sung by Jackie chan. As for the line that broke me it was the grandmother&apos;s prayer. The line delivery was was so heartbreaking by june foray

So yeah, it makes sense Shan Yu would see Mulan as just another soldier 😊

  This movie gets to me every time, I also tend to cry when she first gets out the sword. It&apos;s normal, it&apos;s poignant. She&apos;s amazing, so brave and true to herself, a great example

  Christina Aguilera sang the public released pop version of Reflection, but in the movie Lea Salonga sang this. Lea also sang Princess Jasmine&apos;s part in Aladdin&apos;s Whole New World.
