Hi Karen, I'm a new subscriber also. I've been carnivore for almost 3 years, I'm 66, and had lots of loose skin initially, especially my arms and inner thighs. Over time, it has tightened up. I go 14-16 hours from my last meal to breakfast. I think the process of autophagy that happened caused the skin to tighten. Still wrinkly, but that's OK. Your videos are so informative, honest, and heartfelt. All the best!

Everyone needs to do what's best for them. I personally have had a half dozen surgeries, the last a laparoscopic gallbladder removal 10 years ago. Being an RN gives me a different take on the risks. I wouldn't do another surgery now unless it was a do-or-die.

I’m 69, lost 105 pounds and have maintained for two years. Loose skin in my arms, upper thighs and breasts. If I was younger and not worried about anesthesia at my age, I would definitely have loose skin surgery. But so thankful for my weight loss and my increased health.

Choices. Plastic surgery will be a 'no' for me when I reach my target weight. I will take the lower BMI and lower hbA1C and reduced inflammation and celebrate my good health. I live in Northern New England and, for a good part of the year, we wear more clothes. lol So if my new, smaller size clothes are fitting well, that's enough.

Thanks for sharing all the details. At 65, I'm a hard pass on plastic surgery. Not only can I not afford it, but I could never manage the recovery process. I live alone with no one to help so I need to be able to get around on my own. And the mild discomfort I've had during weight loss is about all I can handle. I use the same inexpensive CeraVe cream moisturizer, Dove body mousse and Lacura (Aldi) face products that I always have, and maybe slather them on more often but that's it. After a lifetime of being overweight, I got over how I look a long time ago. Now it's only how I feel, and improving my health, that really matters!

I am 63. I have always been athletic even when I was much heavier. I was a Marine in my youth. I still mountain bike. I have older grandkids to keep up with so staying active is my goal. I have been using a GLP1 with great results. My skin is saggy but I still have a lot of muscle . It is hard to eat enough protein every day. Food sometimes is just uninteresting. I am learning to eat to live, not live to eat. I can wear a size 8 again but I still see myself as a big girl. It's a process. The truth is, I care more about my health than my appearance these days. I think we just have to get to a place where we feel good and understand what is most important in life. I do not want unnecessary surgeries at this point but I know that's a great solution for some. Enjoying your videos.

I’m 73, have a roll of loose skin around my midriff, some on my inner thighs & upper arms from ages of yo-yo dieting and a few 50 lb losses. I’ve been taking Vital Protein Collagen peptides for over a year and, I’m sorry to report that I haven’t really seen ANY changes in my loose skin. I have, however, seen my hair & nails grow like crazy!

Hi Karen, new subbie here. Found your channel when your shaper video popped up on my feed. I lost my weight (for the zillionth time) by bariatric surgery, and I'm a number of years into it, but it is good to see content from people closer to my age (I'm 7 or 8 years older). Like you, I have lots of loose skin. I've been obese all my life, but the first time I lost substantial amounts of weight I was in my late 20s. I was disgusted with myself that after all that work, I didn't have a great figure. I hated the loose skin. Now the almost 69-year-old me would kill for that, LOL! Old skin is definitely looser than young skin! I don't like the loose skin, but it doesn't bother me the way it did 40+ years ago (or even 20 years ago, for that matter). I'm not planning on having skin surgery. I'm retired and did not save for years just to spend it on surgery. Also, I had seven major surgeries from 2020-2024 and I'm a bit tired of them now. I do have to say that as someone who lives in NYC, the prices quoted to you seemed very reasonable!

The Vital Proteins helps in a myriad of ways. I put it my coffee. My knees/joints feel so much better, and my skin and nails are improving.

Powdered collagen, or any oral collagen for that matter is not absorbed in the gut. Therefore, it is ineffective. I consulted with a plastic surgeon in Palm Beach after I lost a lot of weight from being sick, he told me that collagen is useless, just to get some good compression wear and keep the skin moisturized, and be happy . Now for folks that lose upwards of 2 to 3 hundred pounds, then yes get the surgery.
As an OR nurse I can tell you that the skin reduction surgery is a major procedure with lots of blood loss. Not to be entered lightly. Especially the abdomen where the stitches tend to break open.
I just get Bermuda shirts and elbow length shirts for the summer.
Good luck.
