Yes, Tabelog Gold is definitely more of an holistic award overall. When it comes to sushi, the Golds (particularly the ones hardest to book) are overall exceptional. The flavor and texture of Sugita’s nigiri and otsumami are out of this world.

Ah 4.2 for food. Not surprised. Didn't seem like they showed any unique fishes. I see your quest for the Tabelog Gold. Still waiting on Tenzushi and Sushi Saito haha. Love the nails btw!

I’ve only been to 6 tabelog gold sushiyas (in the current list), so this might not be the most representative opinion, but I think on average gold restaurants serve better food than silver or bronze places (and are often more pricey as such), but each individual restaurant has their own specialty and shari. I would say to forget about awards and just go to where you feel you resonate with!
