  I've been building my physical media collection from scratch since last year. The hunt is for real one of the best parts. I'm blessed to have a video store where I live that sells clothing, vinyl records, cds, VHS, cassette tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays, and recently video games. I've found so many of my favorite movies and tv shows because of that store. (And for good prices too because most of the movies and shows are priced below $4 each). Also even a DVD is better quality than streaming, at least where I live, and I've also noticed that the audio is more stabilized and consistent on a DVD vs streaming (ie audio is the same volume throughout vs streaming where the commercials are 10 times the volume of the show).

  I started listening to CDs instead of streaming after watching your videos. What I've realized is, I listen to so much more different music instead of just what got pushed to me on spotify. The algorithms keep replaying the same things and being able to choose amongst even 10 different albums gives me so much more

  What&apos;s really gonna blow your mind is that, technically, physical media is a type of proprietary solution made to sell you an entirely different product. All of the standards we enjoyed from Cassette tapes, to CDs, to DVDs/Blu-Rays, Vinyl, Cartridges, ALL of these are NOT open standards. They were developed by specific electronic companies, made to use media to sell you the devices on which you play that media.<br><br>It&apos;s only recently that we have open digital standards for media, and a lot of these legacy electronics companies hate that, so they introduce things like DRM on their newer formats in the hopes that it would dissuade people from ripping the contents of their physical media, which would deprive them of the pseudo-monopoly they have on controlling the media they own the intellectual property rights to.

  As per #7, the one thing we lost as a society is &quot;Side quests&quot;. Going to hunt for the media and having adventures on the way and discovering new things is important and we lost that and I think we need that to really value these things again.

  I couldn&apos;t agree more! I have even started digging out my old VHS tapes, and I&apos;m working on a record/8-track player for my home! They fit right in with my antique landline!

  I love the event of sitting down to watch and pick a movie, like you said, making popcorn etc. I need the intention of physical media. I do stream one off watches, but I re-watch things I love and want to own them.

  I agree 💯 The perks are important but you can&apos;t describe the feeling taking your physician media, placing it on dvd player. You need to experience it ❤
