This disaster reminds me of another similar explosion that took place in Glasgow in 2004 - the Stockline Plastics Explosion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEag1IZOa0s

As someone who reported a gas leak in more recent years, I can confirm that the gas companies now react rapidly to such reports. Lessons learnt I think..

Another stellar story. You are without peer. No unnecessary creepiness, no sensationalism, just simple honest storytelling. You are appreciated.

I live there and there is a tiny memorial plaque on the wall at what is now the Barnado’s Charity Shop. It took years to even get that put up. Blink and you miss it. So awful for those who lost loved ones.

I get that gas is mostly safe when systems are maintained properly (and authorities don't ignore the problem), but it still gives me the heeby jeebies with how quickly it can go wrong even in your own house.

My dad told me about this – he grew up in Clarkston and was about 9 years old when it happened. What a terrible tragedy.

Thank you for covering these topics while still having a very clear and deep respect for those who were affected by tragedy. It's so refreshing to see calm, thorough coverage of incidents without a channel resorting to hyperbole, clickbait pictures, or exclamation marks. You're fantastic at what you do!

The gas that’s piped into your house today has an additive to allow you to sniff it out otherwise it’s odorless. As a result of an explosion in 1937 gas additive to sniff was added .

The inquiry basically said: "The responsibility is too split so no one's responsible, no compensation to the victims either sucks to be you✌️"

Incredible.
After the Oxfordshire fire a fortnight ago I was talking to my Mum about the tragic deaths of two firefighters and a civilian.
She began talking about the Cheapside Street (Glasgow) disaster in 1960, where 14 firemen and 5 members of the Salvage Corps were killed - i was going to recommend it as a future video.
Instead there's an upload about my home - I was at Clarkston Toll less than an hour ago.

Very well done too.
