  Our 6 year old daughter died in 1994.  The funeral home did not charge us for any of their services because this particular home didn't charge for infants, and children. We bought her casket and my parents bought her vault that was the only expense with them. We also had to pay for her plot and headstone but that was the cemetery expense and I believe it was not as expensive as an adult. I remember not being pressured at all they were very kind and professional. The hardest part was taking care of these things a few days before she passed. Trying to upsale a casket to anyone is unforgivable....but to grieving parents????? That's despicable.

  Yeah, my dad was cremated without our permission due to a mixup as well back in the early 2000&apos;s. It started with the medical examiner, then the funeral home, and then the crematorium, and nobody verified that he was who he was was supposed to be. My dad was not supposed to be cremated. At all. The funeral home that was supposed to prep him for the funeral called my mom to ask where my dad&apos;s body was. Nobody had any idea what happened for about 24 hours. Once he was finally found, he was delivered to our house in a small cardboard box. No urn, no apology.<br>I feel for this family so much.

  Since you mentioned funeral homes that upsell, I thought I would talk about a flip side. &nbsp;I went with my dad (at his request) when he planned his and my mother&apos;s funerals (mom had dementia). &nbsp;The woman who we sat with to make the arrangements was very pleasant and kind. &nbsp;She went to high school with my sister, so I had known her before. &nbsp;Fast forward a few years and my wife and I decided to make our final arrangements. &nbsp;We both want basic cremation and no visitation. &nbsp;She gave us a quote on the funeral then paused. &nbsp;She said &quot;I don&apos;t want you to take this the wrong way but...&quot; &nbsp;She went on to tell us they own another funeral home in our town that is kind of a basic tier funeral home, and if we wanted to use the other home it would save us some money. &nbsp;Yes, we took the cheaper version. &nbsp;I said all that to say that good funeral homes listen and offer the best service that is most appealing to the family. &nbsp;I enjoy this channel, Lauren. &nbsp;I find it fascination and educational while being entertaining.

  My brother tragically lost 2 infant daughters. Each time the church and funeral home donated the space, their time, and the absolutely heart breakingly small infant caskets. The only thing they paid for is for the cemetery to dig into my sister in law&apos;s mom&apos;s grave and place the caskets there.

  When my husband and father died we used a private crematorium. We had to physically identify them at the facility before they &nbsp;would proceed with the cremation. It was done very tastefully, but it was a no go until we identified them.

  This is why I saw my mother before she was cremated to make sure it was actually her after she was delivered from the hospital.

  I’m a ICU nurse and the steps we have to take when transporting someone after death are very rigorous. Our security guards accompany us everywhere and we check ID at several steps. I can’t imagine mixing someone up! 😳<br><br>BTW, if you put a bra on me in my casket, I will straight up haunt you forever. 😅
