  You did well in not trying to tackle the whole african slavery matter in a few minutes. Because is not only a painful subject, it was far more complicated than many people assume.

  Rather than do a series specifically on slavery maybe it would be interesting to do a series on the philosophy and practice of liberation throughout history. That way you can focus on the slave rebellions, the liberators, the philosophers, and legislators who freed people, rather than focussing on those who, in denying the liberty of others for profit, should be cursed and forgotten.

  As far as I know, the Moroccan Saadi Dynasty conquest of Songhai was the only successful - or even attempted - invasion across the Sahara in history. It was only possibly because the Moroccans used a small force of just 3-5,000 men, which in turn was only able to be that small and still effective because of firearms. It took four months for the army to cross the Sahara.<br><br>Even then, the effort of attempting to control the lands of the former Songhai Empire across the vast distances of the Sahara proved too much for Morocco, and it was not able to establish a firm rule. It lost all control of the region after a decade. At the same time, the drain on Morocco also contributed to the decline and eventual collapse of the Saadi Dynasty.
