I smoke my pipe don’t talk to me don’t ask me to pontificate don’t ask me to work don’t ask me to attach to anything except the view of my fruit trees and garden -silence is priceless Speech is silver, silence is golden.

I smoked a pipe for several years 20+ years ago and only smoked a heavy aromatic and got burned out. I had the packing down and only needed a few relights. I recently picked up the hobby and am varying my tobacco with very light aromatic and English. I am having serious relight issues, it’s taking the enjoyment out of it. I am possibly packing too lightly, and the aromatic that I have is probably too wet. Thanks for the tips, I know that I can overcome, I just need patience.

Great video Sir. I been smoking a pipe since 1968 and the worse thing I see is folks trying to smoke wet tobacco. Thank you. 🙏

I started a few weeks ago and have found that the breath method makes wetness or bad packing much more forgiving.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. Each different pipe and each different tobacco all have a different technique. And the only way to learn is by doing it. You are managing a tiny little fire. I am a big fan of the czech tool. Use it. My pipe only goes out when I want it to or when it runs out of tobacco. But if I am talking to someone and it dies then no big deal, relight when necessary. Non-pipe smokers are not going to know the difference. And fellow pipe smokers are going to understand. Now if I hear another pipe smoker sucking air like a vacuum I might say something like you might want to pack tighter next time or use the tamper. But I have been smoking a pipe for almost 20 years now.
