Bit of trivia: that crash off-screen was actually a stagehand dropping a large tray of props, but the actor playing Uncle Billy improved a reaction to it, and Capra not only kept it in, he paid the stagehand a bonus.

Just a note- back then the pharmacists/druggists/chemists mixed up most of their own pills, liquid medications or other drugs prescribed by doctors. Some of the ingredients could be poisonous if the amounts were too large, or if they were mixed with certain other substances, so the bottles were often marked as poison in order to make sure that extra caution was taken. But the bottles all looked similar, so if someone was drunk or not paying attention, they might make a mistake.

If the lady who asked for only $17.50 had asked for an even $20.00, they would not have had enough cash, but as it stood, they had $2.00 remaining. That's the difference one person can make.

"Tis not the season for this Italian until I hear Potter snarl about the "garlic-eaters."

B&W is the best version, James Stewart wasn't supposed to cry in the iconic prayer seen but Capra left it in, James was working through ptsd from his combat service in WW2.

Age doesn’t indicate whether a work of art “holds up” - Michelangelo’s “Sistine Chapel”, or Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” or Beethoven’s “9th Symphony” or the “Nutcracker Ballet” can be hundreds of years old, but still have the same beauty and power they always did. Cinematic art is not based on the technology or date it was made, but on the story it tells and all the artistic aspects of acting, photography, editing, etc used to create it.

The ultimate Christmas classic. The film may have aged, but its message and depth remain timeless. Because we've all been George Bailey at some point. It's impossible not to cry tears of joy at the end.

The handshake with Potter made George realize he’d be making a deal with the devil if he accepted the job offer.

My all-time favorite film. A life lesson in nearly every scene.

Black and white is better only to experience the dark noir-like scenes of George's nightmare of not being alive.

I’ve seen so few of these older films, so I need to check out more of them. This film is just bursting with heart and charm.
