I gotta disagree with you on the second map a bit, mainly with the idea of everyone flocking to cities the moment infrastructure fails in the countryside. At least assuming that this is set in the United States, frankly, American Cities cannot support themselves. They rely entirely on imports, they aren't like ancient cities that were built on and surrounded by farmlands, they are monolithic structures with absurd amounts of people in them and almost nobody who knows how to work a field. The moment modern infrastructure fails, those cities become warzones and then graveyards over whatever food is already within them, and then people would have no choice but to leave for the countryside in order to either hunt or grow their own food.
At least, that's how I think it would go.

I love the idea of a scenario where the combine has to contend with a global threat they've never seen before - like a supernatural zombie apocalypse.

In Ashpit, "God is Coming" is a reference to Squirrel Stapler, a short horror game that's pretty popular, and "I saw him thru the mirror" is a reference to Local 58, where the moon's reflection can cause you to go crazy. I'm not sure what "crawling in the ground" is a reference to, or "that is not a person", but I'm sure they're references to something.

27:12 Both of those are true. The corpse texture was taken straight from a medical textbook's picture of a partially burned corpse (though if memory serves half the face still looks fairly recognizable, so they just took the crispy half a mirrored it) and the Dead Space thing is also true, though they didn't take any actually textures from any of those, it was more to understand the way the human body actually comes apart when subjected to intense trauma, which seems to have worked wonders for making the game even more grizzly than most gorey games.

interesting fact: the first prototypes of green hell looked like a scorched desert with high hills, a bridge and that very gas station. and this map was originally called "post day" then somehow suddenly it turned into green hell. and so... i am very pleased that my map got into your video

the house on stilts kinda makes me think it was a beachside building like a lifeguard post which means the ocean is probably under the ash somewhere

It was a real pleasure to follow you as you explored our City-Apocalypse project, listening to your analysis, imagining a story in your narrative style. You did a pretty good summary about the environment itself, its history and most of the places. Even though you passed just a few feet away from few secrets and easter-eggs!
Your interest in our work is sincerely appreciated by all of us.

To give proper credit, the full team who worked on this project was actually four developers: Olivier, Alexandre, Camille and Nicolas. Alexandre 'Joheskiller' was actually the main level-designer.
We will definitely add a Harpoon Guy easter-egg!

been watching this series since the beginning and just gotta say i really appreciate that every single one starts with a "This video contains no jumpscares or flashing lights" notice. i hate jumpscares and as someone who is photosensitive, i love that this series always contains neither and is sure to let you know it contains neither every time. keep up the great content dude :)

27:16 yes, they in fact did use a real corpse photo, which was taken from a medical textbook and edited slightly (there was an eye left on the real one), and from what I learned from investigating it myself, I believe the corpse was from a ‘Body Farm’, which is used by medical investigators to determine the effects of decay on the body in different environments and for what different injuries will do to the body. I might be wrong about something in this, but I’m trying to remember what I read and saw years ago

2:05 Was NOT expecting to hear music from the furry visual novel Arches in my unrelated Garry's Mod map exploration video, but I am not complaining tbh
