8:00 actually medieval ships historically DID keep open hearths like this - they where just smaller, and kept in either clay vessels with an open front to tend the fire, or a firebox, like this one but with a little higher sides and filled with sand on which the fire would be made. it wasnt until the age of sail that proper stoves where adopted, and it took until the 19th century for iron stoves to be developed.

these would not be kept burning at all times though, only when in use for cooking.

For awareness, while fire was a major hazard aboard wooden ships, it was also an absolutely necessary thing to have for cooking meals and also just useful to have an available flame for various reasons. It was well shielded in the galley and the cook was the only one allowed to manage it. And if youre wondering what kinds of food needed flame cooking, it was in fact that salt pork you mentioned, as well as a LOT of various porridges made with hard tack. Salt pork needs to get the salt out of it to make it edible, and the fastest way to do that is boiling it in fresh water.

In the last house look-thru, you mentioned "good necromancers" and were almost entirely spot on with how they function in Elder Scrolls. In TR Morrowind, in the city of Old Ebonheart, you can even meet one. A licensed Imperial necromancer who, as part of a quest, you have to pay so he can bring out the soul of murdered woman bound to a soul gem so she can say her final goodbyes to you and her family before moving on to the next work. It was just a really good example of a "good" necromancer (for hire) in this world, more or less just a medium who actually brings backs the dead spirits so you can speak to them as needed, entirely sanctioned by the Empire.

4:36 Good example: Just Cause 3. The wingsuit and its mechanics of using the grapple to keep going (limited by its reach) ensures that traveling with it is efficient yet highly engaging. Due to the limits of the grapple you can seldom gain much altitude, meaning that navigating the environment often involves averting obstacles. It's for this reason I feel like the jet wingsuit you get with DLC kinda ruins it in a way, fun as it is to be a fighter jet.

Another great example is Sunset Overdrive, whose grinding and platforming mechanics are complemented by a world which perfectly accommodates them. Over half the fun of that game is being on the move, so if an objective marker is way across the map that's more an incentive to play the floor is lava along the way than to fast travel (even if that game's fast travel animations are quite amusing).

Awesome vid! You've become one of my favorite channels, few if any are as quaint.

Imagine the concept of a Player Home Mod with a slot for Elder Scrolls to put as a mantlepiece that looks nice enough, so you put it there and then go on about your business, but one day you return to your abode and find out that your home's been broken into and the scrolls have gone missing, and it turns out this Mod has an entire quest line with the thief as a custom NPC and/or follower
