To all you guitarists out there: Use a speaker on stage so the sound engineer doesn’t have a chance to turn a rock band into some kind of “drums + bass + vocals” band. Rock music needs distinctive guitars. I’ve been noticing this trend more and more ever since modelers and all that “Silent Stage” stuff came along.

You can hear the hands on the guitar and that's the magic: spot on Thomas!:eyes-pink-heart-shape:

A player can literally chase "good tone" forever and never be satisfied (it's a personal journey). Put the energy and imagination into the actual songs you're creating .. and you'll be surprised at how many people never mention the tone.

This is what everyone totally misses. I am 68 years old and have recently started to get into the modelling world. I have used many digital amps and effects. But there is a definite sound of a valve amp and guitar. It's what inspires the player that makes the listener's enjoyment.

After many years of searching for the "perfect tone" and thousands of € for gear I gave up playing guitar maybe 10 years ago. This year I finally felt the urge to play again. I bought the Valeton GP-5 (the mini pedal that compresses NAM into a proprietary, less perfect format) for about 75€, and set it up so that the foot switch toggles between a clean and a distorted sound of my choice. Now I just connect my headphones to the output jack (the GP-5 can drive both amps and headphones) and play - and I couldn't be happier. <br>Admitted, it doesn't sound "like the original", but somehow still feels better than every digital unit I had before, latency and dynamics are more than enough for my skill level. You can go minimal with digital gear too 🙂

I admire your down to earth way of dealing with topics like this and your vision seems to go way beyond the current state of affairs in which every other month a new product comes along claiming to be even closer to copying the real amp. I wonder how many guitar players spend their time chasing the next best digital unit that appears on the scene. I really hope that your patience and vision will turn out to become a success in the end!

What people forget: There can be no NAM captures without the analog guitar rigs. This is the whole point and strength of NAM: you can profile your full analogue tube amp guitar stack including pedalboard and take it everywhere in a small form-factor device without breaking your back. It complements the analog gear. It doesn't replace it.

I have used digital for decades because of price.. I still have my Helix Lt.. But I still remember when a GC sales rep hooked me into a used ES 335 and a Super Reverb.. and I was in a whole new Universe! My playing seemed smoother and almost effortless.. You are spot on Mr Blug!
