  My mom is 82 and has never had a heart attack. Her doctor called a nutritionist into her office to convince her that she needed to take a statin. She refused.

  Acute Pancreatitis! After refusing statins for years, I finally agreed to take Crestor. 6 months later I was in the ER with severe abdominal pain. Dx-Acute Pancreatitis. When I confronted my Cardiologist he said Yes that&apos;s a very rare side effect. My trust in all medical personnel has gradually eroded over the last 15yrs. Currently zero! I&apos;m 78yo and will take care of myself.

  I&apos;m a 70 yr.old man, and my doctor told me that I needed a statin for my bad cholesterol when I was in my late 50&apos;s. I tried it for a few months and noticed muscle weakness. I took myself off the drug, and my cholesterol levels haven&apos;t gotten any worse in the past fifteen or so years. Statins and blood pressure drugs are way over prescribed and have too many side effects. Most doctors ignore this. I&apos;m so glad that there are ethical doctors like Dr.Dhand out there that actually care enough to question Big Pharma. The medical system shouldn&apos;t only be about maximizing profits!

  My total cholesterol is 394.4. My LDL is 301.6<br>My HDl Is 92.8<br>Triglycerides 97.4<br>65 year female<br>Had high cholesterol for 40 years. No statins. <br>Cardiologist was convinced I had bad plaque . Had a scan. ZERO plaque. Dr was so shocked

  For me, beyond the horrid cramps with statins, I reasoned that my heart is a muscle and I need it to be strong and healthy, not weakened.

  I was waking up every night in agony that had me screaming. I was given statins after a transient ischemic episode along with three blood pressure meds and two blood thinners. I don&apos;t even really recall most of what happened those three months I was so out of it. My wife asked my neurologist about this and he told her it was the standard of care and if she didn&apos;t trust him she should find another doctor. She did. The new doctor spent six months weaning me off all the drugs and giving me my mind and body back. However it took more than a year for the muscle weakness and cramps to disappear completely.
