  The harmonies in the Intro were all done by Freddie. The harmonies in the operatic section were done by Freddie, Brian and Roger using 180 overdubs. The “shiver” during the “sends shivers down my spine” part was created by Brian’s guitar. It took 3 weeks to record just this song. A Night at The Opera was the most expensive album made at that time. They used up to 6 different studios to record it.

  The very beginning of the song when it appears as though they are singing together and in harmony is actually just Freddie. His voice was multi tracked several times over and layered on top of each other to create the effect that many people are singing and singing in harmony

  I remember as kid in the UK when this song came out, it stopped everyone in their tracks, it was so massive and groundbreaking. It sort of shifted everything the buzz was everywhere. I was seven and me and my friends were asking each other if we had gotten the album yet we were so taken back. A Night at the Opera is magnificent. &nbsp;This is why 90% of Britain know the lyrics to this song, it had such an impact. The 2017 Green Day crowd is evidence of this, 65,000 people singing this song perfectly.

  This &quot;short film&quot; played on our Top of the Pops here in the UK,( one of the top viewed episode ever) is what led to MTV, and VH1. Back then our radio would not play anything over 3.4 mins. But Kenny Everett, a friend of Freddie was a DJ at Capital Radio here, he played it about 16 times over the week-end.. It was GREAT! It blew up everywhere, the rest is ROCK HISTORY!! &nbsp;Queen opened doors for other bands. They were so far ahead!! I am so glad I saw them LIVE 3 times, what memories!!
