Curious about my reference to posting 31 videos in October? My review for “INSIDIOUS” was originally posted as part of MONTH OF TERROR on my other channel youtube.com/onetakevids … An event in 2025 where I posted one horror movie review per day in October.

Why were the reviews delisted from OneTake and re-published on Gil Explains? Here’s the explanation: https://youtu.be/OL4RxeSHT7o

Speaking of OneTake, if you’re looking for an Insidious Timeline without all my opinions, just straight up chronological recap, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/RcmoYslN5XI?si=qNrf5Lqx6ezUtwt_

Video Credits:
Clips of Javier Botet for “The Last Key” segment are taken from the Great Big Story episode on the actor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2P1GrqH-3ks

TI-83 Plus playing Tetris — photo by Liface, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons.
Image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TI83plus.jpg
License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

TI-83 Plus calculator — photo by Hannes Grobe, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons.
Image: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:TI-83-plus_hg.jpg
License: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

Various Tracks by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio - https://whitebataudio.com/

"Kids are creepy but also, they're stupid." Can confirm. As a former kid, that statement is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Nah bro, I don't care what anyone says. If you got to experience Insidious when it came out before the memes and spoilers, the "darth maul" scare scene is genuinely one of the best jump scares in horror movie history. I was 11 watching it in a room full of my cousins. We didn't know anything about it but we could tell this was a new age of paranormal horror. (at least in the west). When you watch it not knowing anything you're fooled by thinking that the demon pointing to the kid was the climax of the scene/her story. So you let your guard down and relax because you've just seen some the evil ghost, you think the scary scene is over and that you don't have to look at him staring menacingly in the corner anymore. You think "alright we'll get to see more of him later in the reveal scene'' and in the middle of that relief they THROW BLOOD RED DARTH MAUL DEMON FRONT AND CENTER IN YOUR FACE. ITS DAYTIME WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE, I THOUGHT THE SCENE WAS OVER I THOUGHT WE WERE DEALING WITH CREEPY LOOKING GHOSTS NOT "THE DEVOUR OF SOULS" ITS STORY TIME YOURE SUPPOSED TO WAIT FOR YOUR SCENE, his makeup was so different and stood out more than any ghosts character at that time. Most movies like the grudge, the ring and other movies just had like dead girls in white gowns looking creepy. But this was a bright red faced VOODOO DEMON WITH THESE PERICING WHITE EYES DEVOID OF MERCY AND THIS GAPING MAW AND SHAP TEETH, SENT STRAIGHT FROM HELL TO YOUR TV SCREEN. Obviously watching it in now it won't hit the same especially if you've even seen a screenshot of that lipstick demon scene, but man I promise there are only a select few movie jumpscares on par with that scene.

The red face demon behind Patrick’s head will never NOT be unsettling to me- I looked back at my phone for like- A SECOND- and got chills. Even just looking at a still image for it is fucking bone chilling for some reason

I heard of a rumor that someone once vomit and soiled themselves at the same time when they saw the demon's face

Realising that Dalton is played by the same actor in all Insidious movies made me feel instantly like 1000 years older

I always assumed Parker's mother was abandoned by her husband because of another younger woman and developed severe misandry and wanted Parker to not be like him so much that he essentially made him a girl. And due to the cheating she also developed hatred towards young women she deemed promiscuous and either started killing them herself first but getting older she delegated the role to a groomed Parker or she manipulated him from the start to be the black bride. Also killing somehow makes the spirit not just malignant but closer to the demons in the further. They gain dominion over a piece of the further and the souls they dragged there, thus it wouldn't have helped Parker to remain longer in Josh's bodybut it would've made her stronger somehow and she just wanted to manipulate Parker into killing more people during the time he had with the body. And that the mother in the loop wasn't a memory but the malignant version of her she became after death as Parker's murders were a tribute to her and himself her tool. Killing her in the memory domain thingy got rid of the old bride Parker because he was linked to her because of their bond.

A ghoul is technically what modern horror calls zombies. Zombies were originally drone like servants, not cannibalistic decaying monsters.

2:23:53 If they showed up to my house dressed like that, I would immediately assume they were there to tell me about the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints 😂

As an adult now, the lipstick-faced demon may look silly, but I don’t care I have LIFELONG beef with that fucker for scaring the absolute shit out of 13-year-old me when I was bullied into watching the original movie back when it was on Netflix the year after it hit theatres 😠😤 if I never see him again it’ll be TOO SOON

The 3rd insidious ending was so sad to me, i genuinely broke into tears. It's something you wish you could see yourself, really wanting to know if your loved one is there. And with recent passings in my family it just hurt a lot more.
