He included zero enrichment. No mazes to run, no hamster wheels, no new scents, no new sights, no new sounds. <br>Go look at the sensory deprivation experiments with isolation tanks. And 'white room torture'. I am amazed it took that long for the society to die.

People would absolutely use that experiment to say “comfort is bad for you” to disregard helping each other. I’m glad you made the point about meaning.

Experiments give you results, bias give you meaning.

These mice didn’t die from lack of ‘meaning’ or ‘role’ in the philosophical and social sense that humans ascribe to anthropomorphised animals. They simply died from lack of mental stimulation through novelty. Turns out, 5 years of overcrowded, sterile cell with nothing new to explore and play with, can literally bore you to death.

Universe 25 proves that survival isn’t just about resources it’s about meaning. That’s what makes this experiment so unsettling.

I don’t know why the conclusion was that comfort kills. It’s pretty obvious that the mice just didn’t have anything to DO. They don’t have hobbies, exercise, any kind of enrichment, because they weren’t given any kind of activities in the enclosure. Even in prisons, inmates are given things to keep them occupied. They can read books or exercise. It’s cruel to not give people things to do, because boredom can drive people crazy.
