This story is better because it is a more realistic version of the golden child dynamic. The ones where one child is hated and abused by their whole family while the other child is worshipped are getting old.

He must have loved his mother enough not to file a fraud case against her. Or he respected his grandfather to much to put his only child in prison. For what ever reason the mother got out of it.

My older sister went through the pictures in my wallet one day. They were all my pets. She demanded to know where was a photo of her daughter, my only niece. I pointed out that those photos were of all my dead pets. None of the live ones. My niece laughed and said she didn't want to qualify to be in my wallet. 🤣 Her photo was in my favorite frame at home. The only photo of a family member.
