The little DAF brings back my memories of operating the Mingary Sth. Australia, fuel stop for the 1968 London - Sydney Marathon. The Dutch National Team fieded 2 of them and it had a DC3 aircraft flying overhead as crew / navigation support. Oh the Hillman Hunters, Escorts, Porsches. Land Crabs Russian Moskovitches, Vauxhaull Viva (it got lost between Brachina and Koonamore Station), Ford Falcon GT's// Oh what a day for an 17 yr old rev head!

Early lotus cortina's had aluminum panels. By 1964 standard cortina bodies were used. Being a 65 it would be the latter, so the reshell would be less relevant to it's provenance.

A secretary at the place I worked in the late 1970s had a DAF 33. She had no end of problems with it. The transmission was the weak point.

Used to have a Lotus Cortina in the day ... used to rally it. To me the green stripe on the model above is not quite right - just not the right flavor of green. And it turns out that I may be quite right that it is not really really a Lotus Cortina.
