I took one hundred dollars in ones on my first cruise. I passed out those bills whenever someone helped me and at restaurants and the coffee shop. It made me happy.

I find a couple of bartenders in different places, tip very well within the first day. Then again throughout. I used to tend bar. With that, being polite and friendly, they remember me and service is perfect. I have also had them point my out at the pool and the wait staff seek us out, and rarely have a wait . Treat people in kind. Love our cruise staff.

Always have some ones for my bartender. On one cruise my bartender caught my eye coming down some stairs, I pointed to him, and bam my drink was waiting for me!!!

We sail NCL, drink package is $30 per day, most frozen drinks are $12-15 each. so the break even point is 3. NCL also allows you to get two drinks at a time. My wife and I both have the package, and if we order two drinks they never ask for two cards.

MSC and Margaritaville??? 15 drink limit like Carnival, but they actually allow you to purchase drinks outside of the 15 limit. This is only before you hit the 15 limit. Once you’ve drank all 15 drinks that were consumed by the daily limit, at that point you are locked out till the next day.

Even if you think you'll get a deal on the drink package, make sure your cabin mate also would get a deal. Our next cruise, we chose to just pay for each drink ourselves because even though I drink, my husband doesn't, so to make the drink package worth while, I'd have to drink enough each day for two people!

Wait, drink packages add 18% gratuity yet you're still expected to leave cash tips as well? WTF? Tipping is out of control.

Top tip: my kids love their fresh squeezed OJ in the morning, but didn’t have the deluxe Bev package on RCL …..so we brought a small plastic old skool juicer, and used oranges available all day in the windjammer ….. fresh OJ all round 🤔

Last year, on a Celebrity Caribbean cruise, Benny was the head bartender at the triangle bar near the dining room. I gave him a cash tip with the first drinks he made us. With each drink served that night, Benny received a tip, by day two, he remembered our names. By day three, he was making sure that we had a place to sit and enjoy a couple drinks before going into the dining room. He knew our drink preferences and made them perfectly. He even gave us samples of some of the very best spirits on board the ship. They work hard. The tips and remembering their names is very important. When filling out the survey, mentioning their name specifically helps them sign bigger contracts for more pay.

My best drink was a French martini while I sailed three times on the star Princess I found sun cruisers and I was so happy I go and get on the regal Princess a few months later they don’t have them. I can’t drink the sugary Iyer Joep that they use so I try to French martini and every single bar on the regal. Princess made that drink exactly the same. It was awesome. I’m going to be back on the regal Princess in about three weeks. I’m really looking forward to it.
