Our health insurance system is awful. I paid 700+ a month for myself and my husband. I paid for the best insurance which was anthem bc/bs. I had cataracts removed in both eyes. When all said and done I still owed $3500 after insurance. This is insane that anyone should have to pay that when you are paying massive amounts or money to them every year. I pay $8,500 year for what. We as Americans are getting screwed severely by the insurance company.

I work in public health and I have to say THANK YOU  for bringing these conversation to an accessible medium. Please do this conversation with someone from CDC DC or CDC Atlanta, people need to hear why public health is important and how budget cuts affects them directly.

I'm Swiss and I travel a lot for winter sports. Let me tell you - you do not want to get injured or sick in the US. I once broke my leg skiing there and I had to pay $16,000 for one broken leg without any complications. I got injured while skiing in South Korea too (a much worse injury) and I only ended up paying $1800, with a mandatory 3 night stay at the hospital. The difference in the efficiency of health care system is staggering. Corporate greed is killing you all. Your government needs to change this.

As a Canadian, if I have a health problem, I just. . . go to a doctor. And I don't need to worry about payment. It's covered through my taxes. This American healthcare labyrinth seems like madness.

As an American who works in healthcare and I will keep saying this over and over again- WE WILL NEVER BE THE GREATEST COUNTRY UNTIL HEALTHCARE BECOMES A HUMAN RIGHT AND NOT A PRIVILEGE 👏🏼

As an Australian, this system seems like a nightmare. I have not spent a single second of my day worrying about co pays, deductibles, prior authorisation rates, trying to use my own medical history to predict what my care needs will be going forward. I am a citizen, I pay taxes, I get healthcare. Simple. Would be nice if the US could catch up rather than letting tens of thousands die from uninsurance and underinsurance.

It’s honestly sad how broken Medicaid is. People are denied care, lose coverage over paperwork, or wait forever for help they urgently need. It’s supposed to protect vulnerable people, but too often it just makes things harder. I hope to see it get better someday ❤

I cannot picture her successor being this articulate describing these issues.

I'm a retired health insurance broker. Medicare pays for care based on what your doctor recommends. Advantage pays for care that they determine you need. They are being investigated for padding billing and are charging Medicare more than is needed. Private insurance doesn't care about your care. A Corporation's only concern is profit. We could dump Advantage and reduce premiums with the savings.

This is a literal Godsend of an episode. I HIGHLY recommend everyone watch this, at least once. I am a clinical exercise physiologist and a hospital administrator. We need more of this education in the U.S.

When I was in my twenties, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. I cried. My doctor was just baffled. She seemed excited, that we had options, we could maintain my health, treat the symptoms, and I would have a normal life with only some minimal treatment. All i could think about is I no insurance company will ever touch me again. I have a pre-existing condition. ACA changed the industry, and providers were so disconnected from the reality of insurance they didn't understand those reactions. the only people who seemed to get a mic then were those complaining that their bad insurance was rejected and they had to  buy insurance that actually covered things. These individuals often did not know what little amount of insurance they had.
