  People really forget that slice of life movies are a thing. Sometimes movies are just made to be enjoyed. Just gotta be along for the ride.

  Do you know this is a modern interpretation of Jane Austen's 'Emma'? Emma is wealthy, spoiled and spends her time match-making others. She eventually falls for her brother-in-law's brother who'd been a long-time family friend - he was also 16 years older than her in the book.

  As many below have said, it's an adaptation, but I think the better description is that it's simply a very charming, slice of life piece that gently satirizes privileged wealthy kids in LA. I love Alicia Silverstone's performance! She's so likable and effortless. Love that the character isn't written as a jerk. The movie floats or sinks on her performance alone and she nails it. Great movie of my childhood that still gives me the feels decades later 😊

  This is my favorite makeover movie because it seems like it’s gonna be a movie about makeovers on the outside, but it ends up being a movie about makeovers on the inside. <br>What I like is that Cher is an inherently good person, she’s just a little self serving and judgmental, not even in a harsh way, but in a way that once she realizes it, wants to change. &nbsp;And I really like that message. &nbsp;<br>You can still be a good person and continue to want to better yourself
