  I used to be an operator for the London Eye when it was under British Airways sponsorship. I was covering a break on the loading platform one evening when I spotted someone in the queue in a very small group. I made the decision to give them their own private capsule. As I was closing the doors the man said to me &quot;You didn&apos;t have to do that, we don&apos;t mind going with a full capsule&quot; I just said &quot;oops, too late&quot; and smiled. He smiled back warmly. <br><br>My team leader came over to me, knowing that we didn&apos;t have any private capsules coming through trying to berate me for doing that with a full queue. I said if it wasn&apos;t for that man, none of us would be working here right now, it&apos;s the least we could do. He caught sight of them in the capsule and his face changed. &quot;Yeh, absolutely the right call!&quot; he said. He walked away calling on the radio if anyone was told that David Marks was here. <br><br>A lovely genuine man, despite being the designer and architect, paid full price and queued up with everyone else in the cold. He didn&apos;t expect a fanfare and didn&apos;t demand special treatment.

  The Eiffel Tower was also only supposed to stick around for 20 years. It seems the way to create something truly iconic in the middle of an existing metropolitan area is to pretend it&apos;s a temporary installation and then wait for the leases to expire.

  It was also used as a giant transmitter by the Nestene Consciousness till The Doctor and Rose put a stop to it.
