The whole point of animation is to do what can't be done in live action. When you remake a classic animated movie into live action, you're taking away the whole reason that movie was made in the first place.

I feel like the live action versions count on you having seen the original movie because then you automatically fill in the gaps for yourself. You know why the live action characters are doing something but only because you remember their motivations from the animated original. That's why everything is so rushed and flat; they count on nostalgic audiences to see it more as a retelling than an independent film, but still market them as the latter.

The people behind this live action remakes must have a giant sign in their studio that says "lets do the same but boring"

It's like drawing the outline of a character from an image instead of studying the form and proportions. It'll be wonky and directionless.

I wish you'd analyze the whole movie this way.

One reason I dislike these remakes so much is because they are banking on everyone who watches the new movie to have also seen and loved the old one. Because of this way of thinking it causes them to cut or not use elements that are essential in building these loveable characters so that they can cram more "original" elements in so that they will get praise for "reinventing the movie" when all they have done is make a heartless copy. These movies are not made to last, they will be forgotten in 5, 10 years while the originals will live on because they were created with such love and passion, these are a quick cash in on the nostalgia of their once great creativity.

I loved the live action (and normally I hate all of them), but this one was very well done. HOWEVER, it was unnecessary to make a LIVE ACTION Aladdin. In an interview they said: “Little girls and boys will look up to you and they will grow up with this movie” and my heart just broke. The kids should grow up with the animated movies instead.

I don't get the algorithm. You have videos that surpassed the 400 000 views mark and then you have equally good ones that barely get 4 000 views. How?

Regarding Aladdin and Jasmine's first meeting: the fact that Jasmine goes along with his plan so quickly and is so good at hoodwinking the merchant shows brilliantly how compatible Jasmine and Aladdin are, despite their wildly different backgrounds. They just get each other. Jasmine is daring and a quick thinker just like Aladdin is, and it's further reinforced in the scene where she pretends to seduce Jafar to distract him. Both Aladdin and Jasmine are slightly different characters in the remake, so I understand why some things were changed/cut, but I don't think there were many scenes showing the unique and instant synergy their animated counterparts had.
