Little off-tangent but I love the video thumbnail :), feels very natural to look at and composited very well.

There’s a video of a caged buckler with Tod’s Workshop and Schola Gladiatora that is pretty excellent. Great for trapping an opponent’s weapon.

This man is a treasure. I’m really hoping every single medical issue he has is addressed and resolved.

A little thing I learned from the Kendo Nito Camp last year where I learned some dual-wielding techniques using the long/short swords in tandem: You need to lead the enemy by the tip of your frontmost weapon, which should be your off-hand weapon. Keep the weapon under their nose and imposing, so they don't focus as much on the other weapon, allowing you to get a hit in from a direction of surprise. If they put their focus on your primary weapon, that's an opportunity to strike with the off-hand weapon.

If paired with different weapon types, that means you can have a regular sword paired with a utility tool, like a pick, hammer or other weapon with grappling utility, any moment they spend focusing on your primary is a potential disarm or a trip. Even something like a shield works in this regard, because you're taking up as much as your opponent's vision as possible and forcing them to re-maneuver.

7:19 One advantage of the dagger is it still works even if the opponent tackles you. Longer weapons, even most arming swords, are very awkward at zero distance. In shield or armoured fighting, where the opponent might block your primary weapon and start wrestling you, the dagger really shines.
