I think it's good to show your kids your struggles and how you overcome them because it gives them a model. Versus feeling like 'why is everything hard for me but it never was for my parents'. I think there's a way to communicate it without putting the burden on them.

Very very very helpful episode. I was not raised in a peaceful Christian home and neither was my husband, but now we are trying so hard to give that to our kids without any familial examples.. My oldest just turned 5 and her little sister will be 3 in September, also currently pregnant. They are just starting to enter the bickering phase and DANG it is harder than I expected! So this episode is literal gold to me lol. 🙏❤️

I agree with the screens. We can find any way to justify babysitting with the screen but I think that ultimately nobody wants to do the hard things or deal with the process of child training. A toddler that is being babysat by the tv doesn’t turn into an Independent 9 year old.
Not to mention the fights that occur when the tv gets turned off is the worst

You guys are the ones that presented the idea of no TV to us, I think 3 or 4 years ago now. It was pretty painful at first but we knew it was a problem. We love our life and our children and their interactions with one another without a TV. We don't even have one in our home. So many people we come across say things like "we couldn't survive without the TV" it breaks my heart because they are missing out on so much with their babies because of the TV. 😞 Thank you both and your parents for all you have taught those of us who didn't have such a great upbringing. ❤❤❤ 🙏🏽

Would love to hear your feedback on my comment...🙏
I have four kids under seven. It's the best.
Three toy rules we have:
1. Use it or lose it.(A child can't hog toys if they're not actually playing with them. And if you aren't using anymore, anybody can come and play with it)
2. If you fight or grab a toy and IF you can't resolve it by talking. Then Dad gets to put the toy in time out for at least a week.
3. (Very good toy cleanup strategy) If you can't put your toys away then Dad gets to put them in HIS toy box and you don't see them for a very long time. (Obviously after some cleanup warnings) (Side note: dad does not have any of the kid's toys in his toy box because this method works really well for having the kids clean up their own toys)

Thank you so much for this episode. I'm an older mom of 7. With the younger kids, I was very intentional about doing a lot of these things, but along the way, I got outnumbered or overwhelmed & let a lot of things slide. As a result, my younger ones definitely have a tougher time entertaining themselves. I needed these reminders!

As a mother of very young children, this was great and very encouraging! God Bless!

I have 4 - the fighting and bickering are mostly cat fights coming from my two gjrls 😬 It’s so much more emotional than fighting over an item.
