Project Guide:
https://www.natesdiysolar.com/projects/protran2-manual-transfer-switch/

I chose to use an MTS for a few reasons:
1. Allows me to mix and match, moving over specific circuits.
2. Allows me to easily test other power sources such as Solar Generators and regular Generators.
3. My solar system is not large enough to power my entire home so a Load-Side solution is preferred.

I also have grid assist / AC input wired to my inverters ATS. This allows me to keep the MTS in GEN mode all the time and defer the Grid/Solar switching to the inverters ATS.

A510A MTS:
https://www.alt-electric.com/A510A_p_51.html
20A SP CB:
https://www.alt-electric.com/-20-Amp-Single-Pole-Type-QP-Circuit-Breaker-RELIANCE_p_1439.html
20A SP CB (AFCI):
https://www.resllcstore.com/products/siemens-qa120afc-20-amp-single-pole-120v-pigtail-neutral-afci-arc-fault-circuit-breaker-ul?variant=50909959979297

Video Series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5HF6X8PstrSbDdRsyOj9BSKfZT_EwS-A

Hey just subscribed I would like to start out and get the 50 amp 10 circuit transfer box and use my 8kw generator. I know I only have a 30 amp plug on generator but Iooking ahead for when I upgrade to 50 amp generator. I have a 200 amp main box . I don’t mind overkill . Excellent tutorial

Thank you for the break down on the Reliance MTS nomenclature. I'm going down the rabbit hole on individual circuit manual transfer switches. For budget reasons, I went with the 30 amp generator inlet with interlock which served me well since 2011 and later on I installed a Magnum Dimensions inverter/DC load center setup in UPS mode in 2018. Fast forward to now, I want to be able to run my 2.5 ton heat pump with soft start on the inverter side in a pinch or from the generator input side.

Since I upgraded to 30 kWhs of LFP batteries, I'm kinda on the why not side since I now have the battery capacity to do it when I lose grid power and it's not safe to go outside to hookup the generator. Eventually, I'll get those telecom mini-split units that'll run off of the battery pack natively. Right now in order to pull things off, I have a L14-30R on the critical loads panel and run a generator cord to the generator input outside making sure to isolate the UPS not causing an input loop on itself.

Has the second video been produced for the wiring of the GFCI breakers? your videos are very helpful. thanks

I came here from Facebook. It would be great content if you did a video of the wire upgrade. I have the 510C version.

I wish I would have seen your videos before I installed the Reliance MTS. All my breakers are plug on neutral. Reliance engineers were not very helpful in specifing the ramifications before I installed the MTS. The subpanel breakers tripped once I swiched to Gen so I contacted Reliance. Per Reliance, "MTS is ment for short term outages. You loose the subpanel breaker protection." Anyway, I'm going to remove the MTS and have an electrician add a throw switch to my sub panel.
