  I love Jancis’ critique.  Always no nonsense and witty.  No overly flowery and poetic descriptors.  Just simple, relatable terms in a witty way.

  How lovely to see Jancis arrive in my algorithm! I feel like I haven’t seen her in ages. Her knowledge and recommendations in wine are unmatched but truthfully, I just love the sound of her voice.  Pure class..

  My Parisian Dad used to tell me this when I was growing up. But for the 17 years I spent married in St Hippolyte Québec, a neighbour seemed to believe that price was the best way to judge a wine and he was a member of an expensive wine club. There’s a lot of snobbery attached to wine . 😄<br>She seems very grounded and reasonable . Thanks Paul I liked this !!

  Jancis Robinson is possibly the best wine expert we have, and she&apos;s 100% right on cost and quality. Quality rises rather steeply to begin with, a $20 wine vs a $5 wine, but the difference between a $20 and a $50 is far smaller, and $50 to $100 smaller still.

  Thicker bottles have been proven to withstand temperature swings better and insulate the wine. Also thicker bottles are required for the pressures involved in most sparkling wine. There are benefits and reasons of having a thicker bottle. They theoretically could help with bottles you want to age to the longest they can go. For example I use thicker bottles (recycled from bottles I drink) in my winemaking for the bottles I plan to keep 10+ years. I put my drink young wines in recycled clear glass bottles my 2-4 year cellaring wines in green glass and my 5-10 in brown bottles with number 9 corks instead of 8, but for the ones I want to keep longest 10+ years I keep them in brown thick glass bottles with number 9 corks. Now the punt thing is also very interesting. The punt is used to collect sediment in so it does have a use other then nesting necks in. It also adds structural strength to the bottle. I get being environmentally friendly I am all for it I use recycled bottles from friends and family as well as my own for winemaking, but to just say they have no point is a bit disingenuous.
